Vision Exams

by Josie last modified Tuesday, January-29, 2008-12-12

EyeThe Free Clinic offers free vision exams to patients who do not have vision insurance and don’t feel they would be able to pay for an exam.  Our goal is to help children and adults who are having trouble seeing in school, at work or just in their daily lives.

Our vision clinics are offered twice a month by appointment.  The exams screen for visual acuity, diabetes, glaucoma and cataracts.  Our exams do not provide prescriptions for contact lenses, only glasses.

When the exam is completed, we use community resources to assist patients with getting glasses or seeing an eye specialist if needed.  The Lions Sight Committee and Lenscrafters have been wonderful resources for helping us access glasses for our patients.

Our vision clinics are staffed by local optometrists and student opticians from Portland Community College (PCC).  Clinics are held the 2nd and 4th Mondays of each month.  An appointment is required.

All of our services are free and we are happy to help.  If you are able to make a donation it is greatly appreciated and helps us keep our programs going.  Suggested donation for our vision clinic is $5-$20.  No one will be refused care if they are unable to donate.
