Liability Insurance
We are honored to have so many health care professionals as part of the Free Clinic of Southwest Washington team. You should know that we have not had a single claim in our history of operation. The following information provides you with options for maintaining liability insurance while you volunteer.
The Free Clinic of Southwest Washington Professional Liability Insurance
The Free Clinic of Southwest Washington's Professional Liability Insurance policy covers all health care professionals
- Physicians and Dentists should use their own professional liability insurance, which usually covers volunteer service.
- Retired physicians and dentists may apply for AHEC's free liability program.
Exceptions:
My policy will not cover volunteer service
Very rarely, a policy may specifically exclude volunteer service. Your insurance company must document this in writing. Under these circumstances, you may apply for free liability insurance through AHEC (see below).
I am retired, or on sabbatical
Please apply through AHEC (see below).
AHEC's Free Professional Liability Insurance
Western Washington Area Health Education Center (AHEC) encourages health care volunteers in Washington State by paying the malpractice insurance premiums for Volunteer/Retired Healthcare Providers who work with under-served patients.
